"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word." - Catechism of the Catholic Church 1213

When you bring your child to the church to receive the Sacrament of Baptism, you are given the opportunity to reflect on the great gift we have in this sacrament. If you view your child's Baptism as an important event, you will almost certainly discover a renewed appreciation of your own Baptism. This is a time when we are able to experience once again God's great parental love for us and how He asks us to pass that on to our children by giving them life and the grace of Baptism.

Whether this is your first child or your fifth, preparing for the Sacrament of Baptism is a very special and holy time for you and your family. The people of St. Charles Borromeo parish share your joy and look forward to welcoming your child into the family of God and His church.
