Stewardship
"It was always most pleasing to the Lord that men approaching the Temple should profess publicly the supreme dominion of God by making some offering from their own goods…. Each of you in the future will offer something in your parish churches when you come to Mass. He who is rich will offer much, but he who is poor will bring forth what he can, so that in this way everyone will give testimony that he himself and everything he has is subject to the good pleasure of God."
(From a homily given by St. Charles Borromeo on January 8, 1584, at the Cathedral of Milan.)
